Some Thoughts on Summer

Summer, is a word in everyone's vocabulary, that when spoken, gives mental pictures of warm days, grassy fields, and endless fun. Summer is always a welcome respite from the mundane, monotonous, and otherwise boring school life that is brought on by the seemingly never-ending routine. Although, Summer may seem like a break, is it really? While we escape the routine of school, everyone seems to openly accept the routine of summer without a second thought. Work schedules clog the week and we struggle to get a vacation or party in here or there, but we still enjoy it. While we still have the chance to go on a mission trip for a week or two, or simply just kick back and relax for a couple or three days, we still plunge willingly and head first into the dreary work agenda that is thrown at us every week. Some might say that is is the mere fact that you get paid for work, but some might also compare knowledge to payment, and, call me eccentric, agree with this. While we cannot live of of knowledge (or bread) alone, it still is something we should seek. Those are some thoughts on summer, now give me some of yours.

I have never let my schooling interfere with my education.

True Independence

A bit of an update for the Fourth of July. Harvey is taking some prize pictures of California, and all goes well at the WILDS. the true reason for this post, though, is for all of us to keep in mind what we really are celebrating.
things we are not celebrating:
who can light the most fireworks
who can eat the most food
etc.
things we are celebrating:
Our God given Independence from Britain and the great nation He gave us (think of us still being under British control, scary!)
The United States of America being forged on the Bible and the Ten Commandments

so the next time you light an M-400 or whatever they're selling, just take a moment and realize just how good God is.

I have always been among those who believed that the greatest freedom of speech was the greatest safety, because if a man is a fool, the best thing to do is to encourage him to advertise the fact by speaking.
