What Do You Think?

I'm thinking about making a blog that is similar to Harvey's GTP blog, only it will deal with riddles and brain busters. I would post a new question everytime the old one is answered correctly. Difficulty would range from math problems to complex riddles. Time will be allowed for those more difficult ones. Hints would rarely be given, and like Harvey I would probably make some sort of point system with a table and something like that. If you would be interested in something like that, then drop a comment and tell me, if you aren't interested drop a comment. The whole of which would probably placed in another blog. So give me your oppinion, a majority vote wins in this case. . . most of the time.

Gossiping

Recently a new issue was brought to my attention. That issuse was the fact the here, news, whether true or false, spreads like wild fire or faster. This can lead to, yes you guessed it, gossip. Whats the point? you may ask, I'm glad you did. The point is to get information. It was once said, I think, that in the absence of truth, one will be created. This means that if you don't understand something or it isn't explained most people will make up an answer. Take for instance you know this guy, and you hear he is dating. When you confront him about this though, it turns out he was just walking through Wal-Mart with his cousin that was visiting, but because someone saw him walking through Wal-Mart with a girl they automatically assumed that it was a special someone. This leads directly to hasty generalizations, and then on to worse things. For those of you who aren't in Freshman Bible, as Mr. Huff has been telling us that, when you hear something the first thing you want to do is credify the source. This means that just because you heard it from your best friend does not mean that it is true. Verbal communication, for those of you who haven't played the telephone game, isn't always reliable. Take the phrase "I like sheep" for instance and put it through about 30 people playing the telephone game and you'll get the phrase "Osama Bin Laden's sister is ugly" (that did happen once) that is only one example of why verbal communication is not always reliable. Is verbal communication ever reliable? I'm glad you asked, Yes, indeed it is. Although don't expect what your friend heard from his mom who heard it from her co-worker who heard it from his son who heard it from his friend who heard it from his cousin to be true. What am I getting at? I'm oh so glad that you asked. Gossip most of the time is unreliable, false, and pointless, yet we still do it because to some people, having false information is better than no information. Then why do we still do it? That is a question that you will have to answer, because we are each accountable, and should not throw around information, unchecked and unchallenged. Moral of the story is this: Gossip is unreliable, and proves to be false most of the time, but most people keep it because they think it's better than nothing, so people keep feeding false information, and it keeps growing, and thats how rumors get started. So from this we can say that checking your sources + checking the information - gossip = good information. There is some simple math for you to think about.

Super Bowl XL And Other Such Events

critics raged. . . "It was the best!", "A buffet of visual pleasure!", "A football game of some sort!" alright so I just made all those up, who cares. yes I watched the super bowl primarily for the commercials, but suprisingly I did watch some of the game, although I didn't really cheer for any team in particular. mainly we just had a virtual smathering of people over at our house and ate, laughed, and watched the super bowl commercials, oh and the game, we watched the game too. This was of course after the BJA All-Star basketball game. although many of the things that composed the cheering section (i.e. "artificial noise makers, signs, and yes even the cheer "go bananas") were nixed. even with this minor set-back the All stars still managed to eek out another victory of 76 to 45 against the Faith Baptist Conquerors. That of course was after the game of "I Resist" which the girls "won." I ask that we keep the hostilities down about this, because I know the can of worms I just opened. Those were the major events that comprised the last couple weeks and I'm sure you had as much fun during them as I did.

Super Bowl XL, Is It Worth It?

being a fan of the one and only Carolina Panthers, the super bowl as lost almost all appeal. I would have been fine with cheering for the Denver Broncos, but they lost to the Pitsburg Steelers. so that pretty much rots and as an added bonus, because both the broncos and panthers lost, I get no extra credit in world history, also rots. so i decided to post on the fact that the 40th anniversary of the super bowl will pretty much not be worth watching, because 19/20th's of the Academy resides on either the broncos side, or the panthers side, which means the general consensus will be "blah." both the favorite teams lost, so, no one will be super excited about the super bowl this year at the Acad, but for those 2 seahawk fans, and 5 steelers fans, it will be like their birthday.

School Commences

January 11th rolled around and the general statement made by most highschoolers was " I don't want to go to school." generally I'm "excited" about the school year, because of all the things it will offer. sure it will throw many projects my way, but that won't hold a candle to everything else. spirit week is one thing worth looking forward too. seeing the Acad population all up in a buzz about the all-star basketball game and such. so that will be fun, depending on if the office let's me keep my pants. another thing the year will offer is the whole "not sitting at home being bored" thing, because yes, sometimes I would take school over a break. school can actually be fun somewhat if you don't absolutely hate it all the time. so anyway like I was saying school started and I'm celebrating with a post. I'm definitly thinking this will be an interesting semester. with all the seniors dreading college and we freshman eagerly awaiting not being the bottom rung on the social ladder anymore. also another plus, cheese didn't take over my locker, especially since it never changed for 4 weeks, thats right 4 straight weeks, no mould visible. so with all that said I'm looking forward to another great semester.

Double Check

Harvey has recently updated his blog with a link to his photo album. it will be updated will pictures of stuff he does, none of that other countries stuff. he went to myrtle beach not too long ago, and has some good picatures of it. also every once and again he will be updating a 'guess that photo!' contest, in which you can win points redeemable for "prizes!" so check it out

School Approaches

It's right around the corner again and much to our disapproval school is happening again this year. Freshman eagerly awaiting to outgrow the stench of rookie-hood. Sophmores also savoring their last semester as a lower classmen. Juniors restlessly undergoing another term until they become the top of the food chain. Seniors, sounding like old people as they brace for college and try to hang onto their old friendships. School houses many feelings as this last semester of '05 - '06 initializes. Feelings of anxiety and fear, of happiness and glee, of sadness and misery. I for one can't wait! I've been kinda bored during Christmas break, after Christmas most everyone engaged their normal lives again leaving many to lie at home bored out of their minds, with the only respite of having a party with 20 guests (TEE-HEE.) So the school semester will offer a way out of the sheer boredom of sitting at home with nothing to do, that is if rotten cheese hasn't taken over my locker (TEE-HEE!)
